And they asked of him:

“Wise One, what is the fundamental difference between a materialist and one seeking after spiritual knowledge?”

The Sage gazed into far away distances and replied with a seeming aloofness:

“ Both seek towards the infinite but only one will attain to the goal!”

And they begged of him yet for a further explanation. He obliged them:

“The materialist concerns himself with things he does not have, of which there will be no end, in his quest to satisfy the insatiable; whilst the latter concerns himself with things of which there will be no end, with things he has, in his quest to attain to the eternal!”
