She wanted out!
She wanted to explore the world
In its entirety.
I advised her not to
For I knew the world
And its wicked inhabitants.
Still
She wanted out!
Painfully
I lowered the bridge of the castle
Gave her a tender kiss
And shed a tear
As I watched her leave!
Beyond the castle’s walls
I could hear her screams.
I could sense her anguish
And I could feel her misery.
Not long after she departed
In utter frustration
She ran back to the entrance of the castle.
Now
She wanted in!
She wept in the open
Begging me:
“Lower the bridge!”
I wept in the castle.
Knowing that I wouldn’t
... Because I couldn’t!
